Finding budget beauty buys that are every bit as good as the expensive, glitzy, throw-financial-caution-to-the-wind type beauty buys is one of the absolute joys of my professional life.
I have used the Aveeno balm ever since you recommended it and it is amazing. Have also started using the L'Oreal mascara as my other ones were getting so eye wateringly expensive; and I MUCH prefer it.
Good recs! The weleda cleansing balm is my HG best budget item ever - better than the elf as a cleanser but elf is better for makeup removal, the weleda isn’t 100% on serious mascara so I use it as second cleanse. But you’re dead right, proper cleansing absolutely makes the biggest difference for me - genuinely transformative; consistent second cleanse with balm cleared out my sebaceous filaments and uneven texture like no 90 euro serum ever touched.
I completely agree re: the mascara which I bought last week after you mentioned it in a video. Absolute banger and a bargain price. Am putting down my Max Factor Masterpiece and swearing allegiance to L'Oreal.
Saved this for future reference. The only thing I love more than a beauty recommendation is a budget beauty recommendation!
I got the Aveeno oat balm on your previous rec (I’m a fan of Aveeno generally) and really like it. The tube lives in my kitchen now as my hand cream/general top up my moisturiser product. I’m dealing with an eczema flare at the moment so my entire skincare regime is emollient (even as cleanser), moisturiser and Vaseline until it’s under control…
The E.L.F balm is indeed fabulous but very slippery under the fingertips, so much so that I once managed to turn my eyelid inside out after going at it a bit too enthusiastically….

Sali’s Placid is so gorgeous and effective. I do hope it come with some masking fragrance tho x
Ohhhh some real treats in there to try so thank you but Skin Food will stay my staple for many more years to comes. It’s the best!!!! 🏆🏆🏆

Still haven’t found anything I like better! Though they have a new one, looks promising…

Sorry to hear that, but good to know the Aveeno is doing the trick!
Ooh this is great, thanks. If we're doing gentle C-serums, the Sali Hughes/Revolution one is excellent too.

Oh my god!!!!
YIKES
Lovely round up! I would love to have a fragranced skincare roundup. As you said, sometimes the need for fragrance runs deep
Will do one!
Lots of good things thank you
Yes, cheapo beauty buys are the way to go! Very good selection, thank you Ruth
